"But behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are Great Things brought to pass."
~Alma 37:6

"The simple things are the most extraordinary things, and only the wise can see them."

I enjoy road biking, I've done a bike race before and I realized that what I like about biking isn't how far I go, and not how fast I go, but to enjoy my time while I'm riding. I sometimes bike with my husband, sometimes with my daughter, but usually I'm alone. I will either listen to music or a podcast while I ride. It is the most peaceful thing to just ride by myself.

Last week while I was on a bike ride alone I saw something bright ahead of my on the ground. As I passed I saw it was a big bright fuzzy caterpillar. Of course I had no choice but to stop. I looked at the caterpillar and took a picture. It's fat little body wiggled as it slowly kept moving. I continued on my ride another two miles. I realized that I needed to head back so I turned around and went in the direction that I originally came.

Suddenly I saw my bright fuzzy friend again. He still hadn't made it to the other side of the sidewalk, he was close, but not there yet. It really got me thinking about life. Sometimes we work so hard and we want to get somewhere, but no matter what we do we just can't do it on our own timing. It's always God's timing. We were made with certain qualities and Heavenly Father has a plan for us. We can get discouraged and feel down that life may not be happening the way we expected. Just like the caterpillar we wiggle, and push ourselves using all our energy, but it just doesn't happen as we expected. One thing I love about caterpillars is  all of the sudden something changes, something surprising and he gets wings, and becomes a butterfly. I can't even name all the things in my life that I planned to go a certain direction and something beautiful completely unexpected happens.

All the people in history and my own family history have had to work really hard to accomplish things. They are all examples to me of this very thing. We can all be like a caterpillar. Have patience, work hard, and don't give up because you will get your wings!

"Don't you give up. Don't you quit You keep walking. You keep trying. There is help and happiness ahead. . . It will be alright in the end. Trust God and believe in good things to come."
